Elements and Stones

Opal is related to Air

Crystals and stones have been used in the arts of alchemy and magick for ages. Different stones are traditionally associated with different elements of nature. The traditional four elements in Western culture are Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. Spirit (or Akasha), is the fifth element, that has been recognized more in the New Age at times than in older traditions, as the “glue” that binds all together.

This list shows some common relations to the various elements such as directions, symbols, chakras, etc. It also gives some of the common associations between stones and the elements, though various stones may have more than one association.
