QUESTION: "Here's a question for you. How can you tell the difference between lepidolite and muscovite?"
MY ANSWER: I had no idea, so I went and looked it up. Aside from a chemical analysis, the only way I've found noted is by color, as both are types of mica. muscovite is light colored, in clear, brown, and yellow most commonly, with lepidolite being pink to purple. Occasionally muscovite is pinkish, making it easy to confuse with pink/purple lepidolite. My personal experience is that pink lepidolite tends to be a more violet pink, whereas muscovite tends to be a browner pink.
